FGIC Blue Ribbon Club
To qualify for this award, a club must have a minimum score of 100 on this form, and have a Club Yearbook sent upon publication. If more space is needed, use a separate sheet of paper. A Book of Evidence is NOT required for this Rating.

This form is sent to the Awards Chairperson by December 31. ~ Additional copies to be sent to the FGCI State President and your District Director.

FGIC Advanced rating
To apply for this award, send a lightweight folder to the Awards Chairperson by December 31. This 8½ by 11 inch folder should be securely fastened together, with the name of your club, address and district number on the cover.

Put a copy of the President’s Report and the Advanced Rating score sheet in the front of the book, and follow with a complete explanation of each of the points earned, clippings, pictures etc. This folder will be returned to your club and is meant to be a history of the year’s activities.

 

Circle of Roses
You should use the Circle of Roses Form for this award. A pin and certificate will be awarded at the State meeting to recipients of this award. Each club is allowed to nominate a person(s) who has shown exceptional dedication through their knowledge and participation in Federated Garden Club making a difference in our garden, our garden club, our community and reflect the goals and projects of NGC. Send FGCI Circle of Roses Application form and attach the name(s) submitted and a brief description of their work to the 2 Vice President by April 1. The 2nd Vice President and the State President will select the recipients.

Lifetime Membership
This is a recongnition given to long-time members or a gift for soeone who has served as a club officer. Funds from Life Memberships go directly to the FGCI Scholarship Fund. The Names of each years new Life Members are read at the Annual FGCI State Meeting by the Chair of the FGCI Life Membership Committee.

Federated Garden Club of Iowa Awards

Award A – FGCI Horticulture Award. A certificate will be given for the outstanding horticulturist in each District. A Club or District should make nominations. Requirements are as follows: Applicants will be chosen for their work with plants, community projects involving horticulture, working with the youth and furthers NGC goals. The Book of Evidence should include name and address of the person, name of club, list of special interests of the applicant, outstanding contribution to gardening, approximate years of gardening, horticultural contributions of applicant to the community, any publicity and pictures. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31.

Award B – Rita Tarr Award for Landscape Design. A certificate and medallion is offered to the best applicant who designs and landscapes their own yard using good landscaping practices. Contact the current Landscape Design Chairperson for information regarding application and requirements. Send application form and requirements to the Landscape Design Chair person by December 31.

Award C – Wendelburg Memorial Conservation Award. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be given to clubs for the best work in conservation. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31.

Award D – Article on Gardening. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be given for the best article considered for publication. The article should be based on personal experience or observation and be 500 – 1000 words in length and double-spaced. No article will be returned as they become the property of FGCI and may be published in the NEWS. The author’s name, address and club should be included. No one may receive this award two years in succession. No Book of Evidence is required. Send FGCI Awards Application form and article to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31.

Award E – Bird Award. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be awarded to a club for the best work in the protection of birds; including feeding, sanctuaries, homes and promoting law enforcement relative to bird welfare. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31.

Award F – Garden Therapy. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be awarded to a club for the best garden therapy project. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31.

Award G – Civic Achievement Award. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be given to a club for the best civic achievement project. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31

Award H – Tree Award. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be awarded to a club for the best comprehensive tree program. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chair chair by December 31

Award I – Butterfly Award. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be awarded to a club for the best butterfly project. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31.

Award J – Pettit Memorial Award. A certificate and a $10 award to a junior unit or club working with youth gardening, horticulture, garden therapy or community projects in conservation. This award is made possible by Hazel and Fern Petit, teachers promoting youth in horticulture and gardening. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31. The FGCI Executive Board and District Directors choose the winner of this award.

Award K– Small Standard Flower Show. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be awarded to a club for the best Small Standard Flower Show Schedule. The Schedule must be signed and dated by the panel of judges judging the show. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Flower Show Schedule to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31.

Award L– Standard Flower Show. Blue, Red and Yellow Certificates of Participation will be awarded to a club for the best Standard Flower Show Schedule. Schedule must be signed and dated by the panel/panels of judges judging the show. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Flower Show Schedule to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31.

Award M – Local President’s Project. A blue, red and yellow certificate will be awarded to the club showing the best evidence of participation in their local club president’s project. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State President / State Awards Chairperson by June 1.

Award N – Circle of Roses- see circle of roses form

Award O – Plant it Pink. A cash memorial will be given to the American Cancer Society in the name of the FGCI that has submitted the best Plant it Pink project. Plant it Pink is a continuing NGC project that recognizes those who have been touched in some way by breast cancer and encourages pink gardens, pink flower show classes, garden therapy or other activities promoting the fight against breast cancer. Send FGCI Awards Application form and Book of Evidence to the State Awards Chairperson by December 31. The State Awards Chairperson and the State President will select the recipients.
